The work at this stage is designed to assist intermediate students move to a higher band level more quickly and confidently. It focuses on speaking and writing because this is where students typically have the most difficulty. As we develop, we will build in more activities to help with the reading and listening. However, some of the work in each unit, such as paraphrasing and parallel writing practice, as well as the vocabulary, will assist students in dealing with the reading and listening.
Our approach is topic based because students need to be able to focus on a particular topic over a period of time in order to become familiar with the vocabulary and issues associated with that topic.
Our topics are chosen by researching as far as possible the most common topics tested in IELTS. By covering this work, it is highly likely that the student will cover at least some of the topics needed, if not the majority.
The units are written to take the student through the preview – view – review process needed to become familiar with, learn and remember the vocabulary and topical issues.
There are 10 units and these should be covered over a period of 10 weeks up to your test. The downloaded unit should be photocopied for you to practice with as many times as you like.
